John grew up in Colombia, South America as the son of missionaries. Much of his energy has been dedicated to training clergy in the provision of spiritual care. John trained to be an ACPE Certified Educator at Duke. Prior to returning to Duke as the Director of Chaplain Services and Education, John served as the Chief of Chaplain Service at the Durham Veteran's Affairs Health System. John is an ACPE Certified Educator and is a Board Certified Chaplain by the National Association of VA Chaplains. John is endorsed by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
