Stan is an ordained minister endorsed by The Alliance of Baptists. He is a North Carolina native and grew up on a small farm near Raleigh. He has a special interest in how chaplains respond to the poor as well as persons that live with addiction or mental health challenges. Stan spent a decade working in the addiction field as chaplain, and then as inpatient director for a public addiction treatment hospital. He completed his clinical pastoral education internship, residency, and educator training at Duke. In addition to his time at Duke University Hospital, he has a private practice where he serves as a spiritually-integrated psychotherapist for individuals, couples, and adolescents.
